Mount Evans

These Bristlecone pines are near the treeline on Mount Evans.  Mount Evans is one of the numerous 14,000 foot mountains just a few miles from Denver.  Denver is situated on the plains East of the Rocky Mountains.  Look to the west nearly anywhere in Denver and you can see the mountains towering over the city.  Especially beautiful is in the Winter when the sun gleams off the snowy peaks.

Mountain Sheep roam around at the peak of Mount Evans.  They have become accustomed to people and you can get closeup pictures without any effort.  At the peak of the mountain the weather is unpredictable so it is often shrouded in fog or rainy.  Because of the weather the road to the top is open only during the summer months.

Keep your eyes open along the roadway up and down the mountain.  These Yellow-Bellied Marmets were seen about three fourths of the way up to the peak.
